Good Friday, then a fearful day of waiting and mourning.

Yesterday was "Good Friday", which is that day that Jesus Christ was crucified and died. Judas betrayed Jesus, and Peter had denied him three times. He had been beaten almost to death, but they wanted him to suffer even more. The crown of thorns was jammed into his head and the blood ran down  his face. It was a miracle that he was still alive. "AND at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, E-lo-i, E-lo-i, la'-ma sa-bach-tha-ni?, which is My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (Mark 15:34 KJV). Jesus then gave up the ghost.

He gave up His Spirit! It was not taken from Him! He gave it up! Thwe Centurion knew that the Son of God had just died and believed. Still those in power continued in their arrogance. They refused to acknowledge who Jesus really was. Yet they will all have to face the God that they tried to usurp! Jesus was the Lord even as He GAVE UP HIS SPIRIT on that cross! He had the power to save Himself but did not. He knew that we were HOPELESS without HIM! HE GAVE ALL FOR US!

Today is the Sabbath day. They laid him in the tomb denated by Joseph of Arimathaea. Then they waited. They really did not know what would happen next. They were fearful. They mourned the death of Jesus. God had torn the curtain in the Temple in two, which signified the end of the Aaronic Prieshood. A new covenant was about to begin. Christ would be the High Priest forever. He is now our Priest interceeding for us to the Father. This is why that Friday is called "Good Friday" Let us wait quietly for the Lord. Then tomorrow we will celebrate HIS RESURRECTION!
